How to motivate a Team

  • Have enthusiasm
  • Set clear expectations
  • Hold accountability
  • Create and celebrate early wins

Micromanagement

  • If a person micromanages another person, they are not properly managed/
  • Try to figure out the underlying reason for micromanaging that person. Go after the problem.

Feedback

  • 4 positive feedbacks to one negative
  • It is hard to meet this ratio, but strive for it

Positive feedback: be specific

Negative Feedback

  • Always make it about the person's behavior, not about the person
  • Facts first
  • Make a request in the future: “I would apprecate next time…”

Be willing to accept feedback. Don't get tweaked by it, it lets you know where you stand!

  • Ask what do they think
  • Make clear request

Feedback should be continual!
